Rise Up to God's Joy-filled Expectations

Have you had your Joy Juice today?  I’m pretty sure God expects His children to drink from the Fountain of Joy continually!

This week we’ve discussed the importance of having great expectations of our great God!  But today, let’s turn our thoughts to God’s expectations of us.

Rest assured that God does NOT expect us to be perfect! But He does ask us to be faithful to His Word. “A faithful man shall abound with blessings” Proverbs 28:20 declares. When a man or a woman accepts Jesus as Lord and believes that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9-10), the individual begins a new life and becomes a Christ follower.

Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God had to grow in wisdom and stature. He is our example; He studied the Scriptures and modeled obedience to His heavenly Father.  Luke 2:40 speaks of Jesus: “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon him”. Then in the 52nd verse, we read: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man”.

Just as a newborn baby is incapable of immediately eating solid food, we need to grow in God’s Word to become spiritual men and women of God. Sadly, some Christians stay on spiritual milk rather than desiring the strong meat of the Word of God.  We must have “meat” in order to become mature Christians and more Christ-like.

May we rise up to God’s expectations and joyfully obey Him…following in the footsteps of Jesus.
