Have you had
your Joy Juice today? It should not be a
“labor” but instead a pleasure to drink in the sweet joy of the Lord!
(According to Wikipedia) “Labor
Day in the United States is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday
in September to honor the American labor movement and the contributions that
workers have made to the strength, prosperity, laws and well-being of the
country. It is considered the unofficial end of summer.” So happy Labor Day and
happy “end of summer”, friends!
All of
us work, whether it’s inside or outside the home. Some people even get paid to work. How
blessed we are if we earn a salary for doing a job we really enjoy! Writer, Debbie Holloway, says that “work can
become a joy and a passion if it’s something you truly love and you’re
surrounded by like-minded partners. Or, on the other hand, even a job you like
can become a drudge if you can’t see eye-to-eye with your co-workers.”
How
true are those words! I’m sure most of us have experienced both kinds of
situations. If you are in a job that you
enjoy, with colleagues that make going to work a pleasure, take the time to
thank God for such a joy-gift. If you
deal with co-workers that are difficult, pray about that, as well. We can’t change others, but we can ask God to
intervene and change our hearts. Who
knows? The changes in us may but
instrumental in changing attitudes around us!
May
our Labor Day be filled with rest, refreshment and lots of joy.
