Have you had your Joy Juice today? Let’s choose an attitude of joy.
Some people
are positive by nature…they see the glass half full, no matter what their
circumstances. They are what we call
optimists; they can find joy in places that others may overlook. THEN….there are people who are negative by
nature and see obstacles rather than opportunities at every turn. When someone
presents them with a possibility, they see a problem.
Where do
you fit on this scale of positive vs. negative thinking? Do you tip toward optimism or do you lean
toward pessimism? Are you somewhere in
the middle….maybe you call yourself a “realist”? Is there a balance between wearing
rose-colored glasses and exemplifying anxiety on steroids? Maybe we need a good attitude adjustment with
a side serving of genuine joy!
Paul tells
us in Philippians 4:6 to “not be anxious about anything, but in every
situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to
God.”
Author Rob Renfroe writes: “With faith and the right attitude,
the world ‘out there’ won’t control the world ‘in here’ within our souls. Maybe the greatest hindrance is the idea that
something ‘out there’ will make me content. There’s something I don’t have,
something I want, something that others possess—if I just had that, then I’d be
happy.”
Temporary
happiness AIN’T joy, my friends. When our attitude is one of thankfulness and
joy in JESUS, then we will learn to be content.
May
each of us choose an attitude of gratitude and joy.
