Have you
had your Joy Juice today? There is no
comparison to anything the world can offer!
Do you find
that you often compare yourself to others?
Sometimes it makes us feel discouraged that we can’t “measure up”. Other
times it makes us feel less guilty about the choices we’ve made. If we can keep
ourselves busy looking at the mistakes of others, then we can almost always
avoid looking at our own shortcomings…thus relieving some of our guilt.
Especially
when we compare ourselves to people whose sins are more obvious than our own,
we feel better about ourselves. But is that what God teaches us to do? Proverbs 28:13 says:
“Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who
confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”
Just because we may not make the same kinds of wrong choices
as someone else, we still make wrong choices.
We are to take responsibility for our own decisions and focus on what
God would have us do to live a Christian life filled with His abundant joy.
Rather than
trying to rid ourselves of guilt by focusing on someone else’s mistakes, let’s
humble ourselves before the Lord and ask Him to remove the scales from our eyes
so that we can see clearly our own shortcomings. With God’s help, we can begin to make better,
more Godly, choices.
Focus
on God; study His Word and drink in the joy found in His love. There’s no comparison!
