Guilt Is A Stealer of Joy

Have you had your Joy Juice today?  It’s good and right that we would want to drink in the joy of Jesus on a regular, consistent basis!

In his book, Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis states that there are two odd facts about human beings.  “The first is that we believe in right and wrong. The second is that, very often, instead of doing what’s right, we do what’s wrong.” Sad but true!

Paul described this discrepancy between beliefs and actions in Romans 7:15: “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.”  We can identify with Paul because we’ve all been there, done that! We’ve wanted to make the right decision; we KNEW what we should do….yet we made a “wrong” choice. And the consequence was “GUILT”.

Rob Renfroe writes: “We have a problem, and that problem is guilt. When we do wrong, we feel not just that we have violated some standard of right and wrong, but we feel as if we have violated ourselves. The results are often guilt and shame; and there may be nothing more painful that human beings must bear.”

Guilt is a “stealer of joy”….that’s for certain. We are all sinners and we all make wrong choices.  That’s why our loving Father sent Jesus….to pay the penalty for your sins and mine.

Give your guilt to Jesus and exchange it for His forgiveness and joy.
