Find Joy in Giving an Apt Reply

Have you had your Joy Juice today?  Whether you’re an out-going personality or a quiet introvert, everyone can be blessed by joy in the Lord!

God made us all with different personalities.  The sanguine personality is a sociable person who loves to laugh and has plenty of energy and enthusiasm.  The choleric has strong leadership traits, is well-organized and goal-oriented. Then there’s the melancholy who is a sensitive person, serious and analytical. And the phlegmatic is the peaceful, patient, compassionate person.

No matter which of those describes your personality, there are times when each of us grapple for the appropriate words to speak in sensitive situations.  Let’s allow the Lord to put His words in our mouths. When we are His mouthpiece, we experience a special kind of joyful satisfaction…especially when the other person recognizes it as a “timely word”.

Like the verse in Proverbs 15:23 says: “A man finds joy in giving an apt reply---and how good is a timely word.”

We must be careful not to speak too quickly, impulsively. We need to be prayed up, asking God to give us that “apt reply”.  If we rush in with unwanted advice, it may do more harm than good.  Let’s ask God to give us the right words in His perfect timing. What a joyful privilege and responsibility it is to be used as God’s mouthpiece!

Hoping that today’s serving of Joy Juice is a “timely word” ...especially for you!
