Have you had your Joy Juice
today? Consistent practice of joy in the
Lord leads to strong roots of faith.
A few weeks ago we experienced the
wrath of Hurricane Irma. Though she had
weakened to a tropical storm when she reached our area, she still packed a
powerful punch! She carried with her strong winds and lots of rain. Trees were uprooted; some snapped in half.
Buildings and homes were damaged by the severe weather. Prolonged wind speeds
and high gusts toppled over some mature trees, that otherwise would have stood
for years.
There’s an analogy here….to our
spiritual life! It takes years for seedlings to grow and produce a strong root-system.
Likewise, Christians have to grow and mature in our faith. To become the
strong, Godly person and fulfill His purpose on earth for us, our faith must
develop over time. If our roots aren’t strong enough, when the storms of life
come, we may be broken, devastated, destroyed.
But like the trees with deep, strong roots, when the winds of life blow
and gust, we want to be able to stand strong in our faith and weather the
storm.
As Colossians 2:6-7 reminds us: “
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and
built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught...”
Consistent faith leads to abundant joy and deep roots help us to
stand strong in the storm.
