When we
pray, do we ask God to bless us abundantly?
Or is that selfish?! Through the years
I’ve discovered that our Heavenly Father DELIGHTS in our coming before Him, and
transparently asking Him to pour out His blessings on us.
Think about
a child who is very special to you. If
he/she came to you humbly with open hands, what would be your first
question? Probably something like: “What do you need, sweetheart?” If they responded by telling you their desire
but also expressed that they want only what you think is best…..wouldn’t you be
touched?
Is that our
attitude when we go to our Heavenly Father?
Or do we give Him our “must- have list”.
The next time you ask God for something, examine your request and see if
you can truly say, “God, this is my desire, but I trust You to know what is
best for me.” If we would start praying
like this, we might be astonished at the blessings that would begin to
flow.
Philippians
3:8 could be our life verse: “I consider everything a loss compared to the
surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” Paul had discovered the secret to
abundance…..a genuine, bold, joyful love for the Lord.
Abundant
JOY can be ours. Know Christ and know His joy.
