Have you had your Joy Juice
today? Pride often steals our joy! Be
alert!
In Proverbs
16:18 are wise words from Solomon: “Pride goes before destruction, a
haughty spirit before a fall.”
The
footnote in my Bible explains it like this: "Proud
people take little account of their weaknesses and do not anticipate stumbling
blocks. They think they are above the
frailties of common people. In this
state of mind they are easily tripped up.
Ironically, proud people seldom realize that pride is their problem,
although everyone around them is well aware of it. Ask someone you trust whether
self-satisfaction has blinded you to warning signs. He or she may help you avoid a fall."*
God wants us to be confident as
we serve Him, but that confidence should be in Him. ( I like to call it
“God-confidence”.) Being too
self-confident leads to “pride”. That’s
why sometimes we need an “attitude adjustment” to remind us of Who ultimately
is in charge. Our faith may waver; we will
make unwise choices; we sometimes stray from the truth of Scripture. But God is
always willing to help us learn and grow. His desire is that we become like
Jesus.
Ask the
Lord to keep you from falling and boldly walk the Path of Joy.
We may stumble; we may even fall. But God
lovingly fills us with His strength and joy.
