Have you had your Joy Juice
today! Whether you are content or upset, smiling with joy or crying like a
baby…GOD IS THERE!
We
can learn a lot from observing newborn babies! They are so innocent and
“untouched” by the world. YET…they are
still demanding and often impatient! Does that mean that we are born with a
selfish nature? Yes, I believe it does.
That’s why God gives us many instructions regarding selfishness throughout His
Word.
- In Philippians 2:3 we are taught: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves”
- James 3:16 says: “For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.”
- And then in Romans 8:5: “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.”
These are just three of the many verses we can find in God’s Word to
warn against selfishness. The key is to
stay wrapped in the warm blanket of God’s love and allow Him to love others
through us. We should want what God
wants….what the Spirit desires. And He desires to wrap each of us in His warm
blanket of love.
May we see each person and each situation through the eyes of God. Let’s allow His wisdom and love to permeate
our thinking and soften our words.
May the joy of the Lord cover
us…like a warm blanket of love.
