Have you had your Joy Juice today? Be compassionate; be generous; and be joyful.
There’s
a story told of “a Christian leader who
was invited to speak to a large gathering of women in an affluent church. Before he spoke, the woman leading the
meeting relayed an urgent financial need from one of the church’s missionaries. She asked if the speaker would lead the group
in prayer for God to supply the need.
He came to the podium and
shocked the group by saying he would not lead the group in the requested
prayer, but he would do something else. He would contribute all the money he
had in his pockets to meet the need if all the women in the group would do the
same. If, when the money was collected
and counted, funds were still lacking, he would be happy to lead in prayer for
God to supply the rest.” (David Jeremiah, Signs of Life)
Would you like to guess the
outcome? When the donations were counted, there was MORE than enough to cover
the missionary’s urgent need. David
Jeremiah writes: “Prayer can be compassionate, but compassion requires more
than prayer. When it comes to compassion,
sometimes God intends for us to answer our own prayers—in the moment.”
Ask God
to show you who needs an act of compassion today. Pray for wisdom, discernment and an obedient
heart to share the joy of Jesus with someone who needs a kind expression of His
love.
Be compassionate; be generous; and be
joyful!
