Have
you had your Joy Juice today? Generously
share the joy of the Lord with all you meet. You CAN make a difference!
When we
think about the word “generosity” most often we equate it with financial
giving. But generosity is so much fuller
and deeper and more…..
According
to David Jeremiah, “Respect, courtesy, forbearance, patience—all of these are
expressions of a generous spirit. Each
day you’re given opportunities to exercise generosity of spirit: to respond to
impatience with patience, to reply to a hurried or thoughtless comment with an
expression of understanding or empathy, to overlook what you don’t like in
someone, so that you can seek and find what you do like. It means to try to
understand first and react later.”
Be reminded that generosity is not about
what’s in our bank account—but what’s in our heart! And through the overflow
our heart, our mouth speaks. When people
hear your conversation, do your words speak encouragement and edification? Or do they discourage and tear down? If your
heart is generous with love and joy from the Lord, then people will be drawn to
you as a source of strength.
It may
not be “natural” for us to have a generous spirit, but we know a generous God
Who is willing to help us cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.
May we be dependent on God to give us a
generous, joyful spirit to share with others.
