Have you had your JOY JUICE today? Let’s go fishing and see if we can catch some
JOY!
The final
parable found in Matthew 13 is about some fishermen. Jesus said, in verses 47-50:
“Once
again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and
caught all kinds of fish. When it
was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and
collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away. This is how it will be at the end of the age. The
angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the blazing furnace, where
there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
The nets used in this parable were large, heavy
nets with weights attached to the bottom. When dragged in to the shore they
would invariably catch many fish, both edible and inedible; which had to be
separated.
This parable compares the harvest of both good and
bad fish, to a time at the end of the age when there will be a gathering of all
people…the Judgment Seat of Christ.. The Righteous will be brought to God, and
the followers of satan will be cast away.
The JOY of this parable is that the "righteous
people" are not righteous from living a perfect life, but because they have
been saved by the Blood of the Lamb. Those who are born again Christians, will
be found “not guilty”, because JESUS paid for our sins!
