love & joy so that you will be able to share it with others.
Benjamin
Franklin is quoted to have said: “Those
who love deeply never grow old; they may die of old age, but they die young.” There is a lot of truth in that
statement. People who generously love,
genuinely care and continually pour out God’s compassion are “rich” in so many
ways. Not by the world’s standard. Not by measure of their bank accounts. Not
rich by any type of material possessions or successful career. They are rich
because of the relationships they have with others…and that keeps the heart
joyful and “young”.
“LOVE” is the first fruit of the Spirit
mentioned on the list in Galatians (5:22-23). And “JOY” is holding hands with
it!
How can love and joy keep us “young
at heart”? They serve together to keep
us focused on the good things, our abundant blessings and help us to think of
others more than ourselves. The passage
in 1 Corinthians 13 never grows old:
“Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not
self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does
not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always
trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
Keep loving, continue to
share the joy of Jesus and stay young at heart!
