Have you
had your Joy Juice today? The older I
get the more delicious “joy” tastes!
How do feel
about birthdays? I recently celebrated another one! Though our excitement about
birthdays seems to diminish as we age…and certainly pales in comparison with
children’s exuberance….we adults truly should be excited with each birthday.
God has given us the gift of prolonged life. As we grow older, we tend to see
things from a different perspective.
Seasoned
Christians should see birthdays as an opportunity to continue to share the joy
of Jesus…extended time to make a difference in this world. A verse in Psalm 92
has become very dear to my heart as I age…..Verse 14 says: “They
will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.” That should be our desire…to bear
fruit---the fruit of the Spirit---as we serve the Lord.
The Life
Application Study Bible explains further: “Honoring
God is not limited to young people who seem to have unlimited strength and
energy. Even in old age, devoted
believers can produce spiritual fruit.
There are many faithful older people who continue to have a fresh
outlook and can teach us from a lifetime experience of serving God.”
As we age, let’s joyfully celebrate! With
God’s help, we can still bear good fruit.
