Have you had your Joy Juice today? Generous servings of joy
in Jesus lead to gratitude to the glory of God.
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 107:1. Giving thanks means so much more
that saying a rote prayer before our meals.
It’s more than a habit…more than a disciple. Giving (heart-felt) thanks is an overflowing,
humble spirit toward God.
How often
do we take the time to get quiet before the Throne of Grace and really thank
God for our blessings, one by one? There
is no way that we can ever name them all, but don’t you think it brings God joy
when we try? He doesn’t demand our
thanks; but He joyfully accepts our sincere words of gratitude.
Think of the times you’ve given someone a gift
and they completely failed to express their gratitude. You weren’t sure if they liked the gift or
not…because of their lack of expression regarding your gift. But when a person smiles and speaks kind
words of appreciation for your thoughtfulness in picking a gift especially for
them…..doesn’t it bring joy to your heart?
In a similar way, don’t you think God is joyful when we express our
thanks to Him!
Zephaniah
3:17 paints such a joyous picture. A portion of that verse says:
17 He
will take great delight in you; (He) will rejoice over you with singing.”
May God take delight
in us and rejoice with singing as we open our hearts to Him, praising Him with joy
and gratitude!
