The Sweet Smelling Aroma of Easter Joy

Have you had your Joy Juice today?  Easter joy has a distinct aroma….like a sweet smelling sacrifice.

In 2 Corinthians 2:15 we read: “For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”

Let’s talk about that pleasing aroma of Christ…..God has given each of us five senses, and of all of them, the sense of smell is perhaps the most spontaneous.  It is the most strongly connected to the areas of the brain that process memory…meaning that even the smallest whiff of a smell that we have previously connected to a certain place, can bring us back to that place in mere moments.  The sense of smell is directly wired to our brain, and the link between smells and brain response is rapid.

Easter has a distinct aroma for dedicated, committed Christians….that aroma is the sacrifice that precedes the joy we experience as being a child of God.  Jesus sacrificed His very LIFE for you and me.

Sunday we will celebrate Christ’s victory over the grave.  He died a cruel, painful death on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. But He did not stay in the tomb!  He arose! We can live in the joy of that victory….and breathe in the sweet aroma of the His love!

Focus on sweet smelling joy of Easter; and let’s never forget the sacrifice of Jesus so that we may have that joy in Him.
