A Glad Heart

Have you had your JOY JUICE today?  In Psalm 16:9 David writes: “My heart is glad and my tongue rejoices.”

What does it mean to have a “glad heart”?  Is it the feeling that we get when we buy something new?  Or when we find just the right outfit for that important event?  Or maybe it’s when we get to take that vacation that we have excitedly anticipated for a long time.

Sure those things are nice, but…  How long will that purchase stay new?  In a few months, maybe weeks, your outfit will be out of style!  And I can promise you, the memories of that trip will fade.

The secret of a glad heart is much more than mere happiness.  Happiness is temporary because it’s based on our circumstances.  But TRUE JOY is lasting because it’s based on God’s presence within us.  If you have asked Jesus into your heart and you are living for Him, then you know exactly what David meant by his words:” My heart is glad and my tongue rejoices!” When Jesus lives in your heart, He brings such abundant joy that it bursts forth from your heart and rolls off your tongue with encouraging words and songs of rejoicing!

May your heart be exceedingly glad because of the indescribable fullness and joy found in relationship with the LORD!
