Have you had your JOY JUICE today? The joy found in a relationship with Jesus is
available to all.
In a book
I’ve been reading by David Jeremiah, I have found such insight regarding joy no
matter what our circumstances. The title
of the book is Turning Toward Joy.
(Are you surprised? I can’t get enough!)
Dr.
Jeremiah leaps immediately into subjects like “humility” and “unity”,
“diversity”, “intimacy”, and “security”. Can joy be found in each of these?
Yes…because all are conditions of the heart.
And that is where JOY is planted, nurtured and developed. Let’s talk
first about HUMILITY---the attitude of LOVE, as the author puts it.
“Humility is not thinking less of yourself;
it’s thinking of yourself less.” (C.S. Lewis) Philippians 2:5 says, “Your
attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.” What was His attitude? One of love, humility and service. In verse 3
of that same chapter, Paul writes, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain
conceit, but IN HUMILITY consider others better than yourselves.”
Selfish ambition can tear down…but genuine
humility builds up! Being humble has a lot to do with how we see ourselves
before God. WE ARE SINNERS, saved only
by God’s grace. Let’s lay aside selfishness
and treat others with respect and common courtesy. If we will put others' needs
before our own, then we are linking ourselves to Christ…who is the truest
example of HUMILITY!
( Paraphrased from
NIV Life Appl. Bible footnote Philip. 2:3)
Let’s humble ourselves before God and look for
ways to serve JOY to others!
