Discipline=Love=JOY

Have you had your JOY JUICE today?  There’s a special serving that was made especially for YOU!

            How many of you remember hearing your parents say, “This is going to hurt me a lot more than it does you?”  Then they would proceed with punishment for your “crime”.  If you’re a parent yourself, you now understand what they meant by that statement. Often children misinterpret discipline as their parents being mean and unloving…but it usually means just the opposite.

            Good parents won’t let their children act “any ole way”.  They want them to learn acceptable behavior, and that sometimes means discipline.  A parent’s job is to train, model and correct their child in the formative years so that they will grow into a nice, productive adult who can get along with others.

            Hebrews 12:5 -6 addresses this from the spiritual standpoint:
My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.

            Sometimes our Heavenly Father sees that we need discipline.  Though it’s not pleasant, we must remember that this act is a sign of deep love for us.  We should grow up spiritually and understand that when God corrects us, it is proof positive of His love.

            Even when we’re being disciplined, we can still drink our JOY JUICE because we know that our Father loves us greatly.
