Have you had your JOY JUICE today? This week our Fall fashion tip has been to
dress in the armor of God!
We can
stand strong in the Lord because we know to daily put on our Belt of Truth,
Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes of Peace, and Shield of Faith. To be protected from head to toe…..let’s look
at the other two pieces of armor Paul mentioned in Ephesians 6. “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
A helmet protects the head---the brain, the
mind. This is the real spiritual
battleground on which the enemy fights his strongest, dirtiest, and most
important battles. We need a helmet of salvation to protect our thinking…..to
be reminded that Jesus died to save us!
The last
piece of armor is the weapon that puts the devil on the run….the Sword of the
Spirit…which is the Word of God. In
Paul’s day, the Romans used swords in combat.
The most effective sword was sharpened on both sides so that no matter
how it was held in the hand of the solider, it had cutting power! The Word of God is like a two-edged
sword….defending us against the devil and actively forcing the enemy to retreat
from us!
When we are
dressed for battle with God’s armor, our faith is stronger, our minds are
filled with hope, and we are keenly aware of why we can experience the JOY of
the Lord in all circumstances!
Dress appropriately for every day of the year by joyfully and boldly
putting on the armor which outshines all others…the armor of God.
