Are You a JOY-filled Peacemaker?

Have you had your JOY JUICE today?  Conflict or harmony….it’s good for both!

As hard as we try, we cannot always avoid conflict. Sometimes it happens through a misunderstanding or an innocent mistake. Though often intentional, conflict doesn’t always arise due to willful behavior; sometimes it’s just the opposite: neglect. The important thing to remember is that we need to communicate and discuss the reasons for our conflict.  If we ignore it…it will NOT just “go away”.

When we disagree—for whatever reason—we need to lovingly and kindly broach the subject with the person.  Being open and honest with our feelings aids in helping each other understand how the other person feels and thinks. It even helps us to grow by being willing to hear new perspectives & ideas.

The Bible tells us that we are to be “peacemakers”.  Matthew 5:9 You recall that verse…”Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Are you a “peacemaker” or a peace-breaker?  Our goal as Christians should always be to seek God’s peaceful resolution…no matter what the conflict.  That doesn’t mean that we always agree with the other person. At times we must stand up for Godly principles...but in a loving way. See it as an opportunity to show the love of Christ.

If we choose to approach every situation with the attitude of Christ (as we are exhorted by Paul in Philippians 2:5) then when conflict erupts, we will remember that Jesus was willing to give up his rights in order to obey God and serve people.  Are we willing to do the same?

Though we don’t like conflict, let’s show the love of the Lord and handle those touchy situations with His JOY!
