Have
you had your Joy Juice today? God will
guide us when we are saturated with His love and joy.
One of
my favorite writers, Oswald Chambers, says this about hearing God’s leading in
our lives. He wrote:
“What hinders me from hearing is
that I am taken up with other things. It is not that I will not hear God, but I
am not devoted in the right place. I am devoted to things, to service, to
convictions, and God may say what He likes, but I do not hear Him. The child
attitude is always, ‘Speak, Lord, for Thy servant heareth.’”
There is
such truth to that statement. So often
we call ourselves listening for God’s voice, yet we are running the rat-race of
life…..possibly even doing good, wonderful things FOR Christ….but not being
still enough to hear Him as He speaks to us.
Busyness, clutter and clamor often clogs our spiritual ears and we miss
God’s voice amidst it all.
We must
make to be still before God so that we can be certain of the Holy Spirit’s
guidance. Priscilla Shirer says, “The
Holy Spirit will never tell us to do anything that isn’t in God’s will. He
speaks exactly what He hears from the Father.
He begins to influence our minds, will, emotions, and bodies to desire
what is pleasing to God and will bring Him glory. Our responsibility is to
cooperate by obeying His promptings and bathing ourselves in the Word and
prayer.”
May we always have the child-attitude of
Samuel, “Speak, Lord, for thy servant is
listening.” 1 Samuel 3:10
