Have
you had your Joy Juice today? Keep your
heart prepared to receive generous portions of joy in the Lord!
When
God tells us in Proverbs 4:23 to “guard your heart”, He doesn’t say, “if you
feel like it” or “when it’s convenient” or “sometimes you need to be on guard.”
He commands us: “Above all things….GUARD YOUR HEART!” It’s not a suggestion. He wants us to keep our hearts pure and right
and ready to be blessed with His best.
To
guard means to protect. When we protect our thoughts, our plans, our desires
from ungodly things, then we will be guarding our heart in the way God intends.
In her book 31 Verses to Write on Your
Heart, Liz Curtis Higgs points
out why our heart is so important to
God.
·
It’s where we store His word: Job
22:22 says: “Lay up his words in your heart.”
·
It’s where we respond to His
invitation: Deut. 6:5 tells us to “Love the Lord your God with all your
heart.”
·
It’s where we learn to trust Him.
Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the Lord with all your
heart.”
The author continues: “With our hearts safely in His hands,
our lives flow in the right direction.”
Guard your heart and flow toward joy!
