A Heart of Pure Joy

         Have you had your Joy Juice today?  It’s a great weapon against discouragement!

            Powerful truth is found in Proverbs 4:23! “Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life.”  This applies to every person, regardless of age, gender or spiritual maturity.  Each of us should be “on guard”. Why?

            Our hearts are under constant attack! We live in a combat zone.  Many people are oblivious to this reality.  But be assured that there is an enemy who is always working against us to cause destruction….ripping marriages apart, tearing children away from their parents, stealing reputations and trying unlimited ways to destroy Christians. The enemy often uses weapons such as disappointment, discouragement and disillusionment. Ever been tempted to throw in the towel, give up and give in?  That’s why we need a healthy spiritual heart!  It’s imperative that we guard it with God’s Word.

            King Solomon said that our hearts are like a wellspring.  Though a heart may start out like a natural spring of pure, clean water, it can get contaminated.  If we plug up that spring, we stop the flow.  The water can become poisoned…toxic. In a similar way, if our heart is unhealthy, it has great impact on everything else…our thoughts, our actions, the way we treat others….and so much more.

           May our “wellspring” always flow---freely--- from a heart of pure joy in the Lord.
