The Gingerbread Man Lost His Joy

           Have you had your JOY JUICE today?  Run on over to the refrigerator and grab a bottle as you listen to our challenge this morning.

            Some of my young friends like Jack and Oliver and Thomas may remember the story about the Gingerbread Man! How about you?  Do you recall that as soon as the Gingerbread Man was out of the oven, he started running because he didn’t want to get eaten!? Throughout the story, he taunted, “Run, run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man.” He thought he was in control.  But there came a time when he had to trust someone to help him cross the river…..and he chose the wrong one to trust---the sly fox.  The Gingerbread Man was gobbled up by the very one he had trusted.

            Do you ever feel that you are running through life, trying to make difficult decisions at every turn?  Often we try to handle things in our own strength, without asking God for wisdom and guidance. If we are not prayerful and careful we can be deceived by the evil one and be gobbled up by those who are untrustworthy.

           The GOOD NEWS is that we don’t have to be like the Gingerbread Man…ever! There is One we can ALWAYS trust.  His name is JESUS!  We do have to be careful not to be “tricked” by the sly one, but with God continually by our side, we can run confidently and JOYfully.

 Run, run as faithfully as you can;
Your Joy is in knowing that you’re in God’s hands!
