Have you
had your Joy Juice today? Even in times
of sadness, we can be confident in the joy provided in relationship with God.
All over
our world in daily conversations, many people are asking a similar question:
“Why did that bad thing happen to such a good person?” I’ll admit, I’ve asked that very
question. When a young person dies, it
seems so senseless. A mom with young
children gets terminal cancer; why, when her children obviously need her? A dad who has no history of health issues has
a heart attack and leaves behind a wife who loves him dearly and a young family
who need him greatly. WHY? Life happens! Death and tragedy waltz in….
uninvited. The result is heartache and devastation.
Is it wrong
to ask God “why”? The sobering truth is that we may never understand why
certain things happen to us or our loved ones, friends or acquaintances. BUT we
don’t have to understand everything in order to believe that God is a good,
good God (as the praise song says) and that He is wiser than any of us.
Look at the
scripture passage in Isaiah 55:9:
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Drink
in God’s joy…even when you don’t understand the “why”s!
