looking good and it always helps to let that joy shine through your smile!
Many people
are obsessed with their physical appearance.
They are constantly checking out the latest diet trends, reading books
about how to get in shape, and are tempted by the media as they show before and
after pictures of what we could look like IF we will only buy their product.
Well, it IS
important that we treat our bodies well.
Our bodies are God’s temple as we learn in 1 Corinthians 3:16. But how many of us are more concerned with
our outward appearance than we are our inward (spiritual) condition?
When you look in the mirror, what do you
see? Do you notice all the physical flaws
and imperfections? Or do you see a creature that was “fearfully and wonderfully
made”? If we are more concerned about
our outward appearance than we are our spiritual condition, then we’re focusing
on the wrong thing.
The world
wants us to be dissatisfied with ourselves, because that’s where a lot of money
is generated…in our quest to become the perfect size with flawless skin, shiny
hair and high energy. Let’s never forget that God loves us just the way we are,
no matter what we look like on the outside.
When we accept our identity in Christ, we’ll see a JOYful person smiling
back at us from our mirror. Hopefully, we will “reflect” the JOY of Jesus!!
May we focus on how God sees us and may He recognize His gift of
joy radiating from our hearts and lives.
