Have you
had your Joy Juice today? Share some
with your enemies!
Share with
my enemies? Yep! That’s what I said! The
Bible tells us in Luke 6:27-28: "But I tell you who hear me: Love
your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray
for those who mistreat you." Do you know who was speaking in these
verses? Jesus! Does Jesus truly mean for
us to LOVE someone who has hurt us and continues to bring grief into our lives?
Is it even possible to do that?!
If we are
honest and transparent about our true feelings toward our enemies, we will
admit that we certainly don’t have warm, fuzzy feelings for this person. But the beauty of relationship with God is
that He knows our weaknesses and He will give us the strength and wisdom to do
what He asks…if we will trust Him and be obedient.
The promise of 2 Timothy 1:7 offers great hope with this challenge of loving our
enemies: "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power,
of love and of self-discipline." In other words, God will give us the power to
love our enemies the way He wants us to love them.
Loving our enemies is no easy task…but God’s strength and His wisdom is always available. Joyfully accept His help.
