Fish Hopefully and Joyfully

Have you had your Joy Juice today?  Joy in the Lord helps us to become great “fishers of men” as Jesus talked about in Matthew 4:19.

Are you a fisherman?  I’ll confess…it’s not easy for me!  I can’t bait a hook, throw a rod or take a fish off the line.  But I do like to see that little sinker bob when a fish is nibbling on the hook! There is a hopeful anticipation of what might be about to happen!

One experienced fisherman said, “It is better to fish hopefully than to catch fish.”  I think he was referring to the excitement & anticipation that hope can bring! Even if the fish simply nibbles on your hook and goes away, you have the hope that he will come back.

The Bible teaches us that the Christian life is “hope experienced”.  A “hopeless Christian” is really a contradiction in terms. As children of God, we have the best reason for HOPE. His name is JESUS!  Our hope lies in the truth that we will spend eternity with Christ!  Scoop that up in your "joy net"! When we truly catch this truth, we will become avid “fishers of men”!

Let’s make Romans 15:13 our prayer for one another:

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Let’s go “joy-fishing ”!  Bait your heart for the greatest “catch of the day”… JOY and HOPE in Jesus!
