Have you had your JOY JUICE today? Parents….your children are looking to you for
an example, so commit to drinking in the JOY of JESUS faithfully.
Even in my
older years, I continue to listen to and learn from my mother! It’s more from example now than from her
actual words, but still she has so much to teach. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:1, “Children,
obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”
Exodus 20:12: “Honor your father and your mother, so that
you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.”
And in Colossians 3:20, “Children, obey your parents in
everything, for this pleases the Lord.”
The lesson
from these verses is two-fold. Children
should listen to, respect and honor their parents. Why?
Deuteronomy 5:16 gives us the reason:
"Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has
commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in
the land the LORD your God is giving you.”
God wants to bless us!
He desires that “it may go well with you”.
The second
lesson here is for parents. We adults
should live lives that deserve respect and honor. And we can do that by seeking God and His
wisdom. If we are using Jesus as our
role model, then we will be setting the right kind of example for our children
and grandchildren…and to all those who look up to us.
