Have you
had your Joy Juice today? Inspect it
with clear eyes as you drink it in. Let it improve your vision….spiritually
speaking.
Why is it
so much easier to see other people’s faults rather than our own? This must have been a problem from the
beginning of time, because there are scriptures on the subject throughout the
Word of God. Listen to Matthew 7:3-5…
3 Why do you see the
speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your
own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the
speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You
hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see
clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
Before we can help anyone else, we must make sure our own
spiritual vision is clear. Instead of
being so concerned about the mistakes and sins of others and judging them, we
need to take a close look at ourselves.
Our own sin may be keeping us from a close walk with God. We need to ask God to remove the scales from
our eyes so that we might be “clear-sighted”.
Jesus used
a pretty strong term for those of us who point fingers and criticize others. He
called us: HYPOCRITE! That’s not a very JOYful word, is it? We are to be discerning, but not
negative and judgmental. Let’s trust God to be the final judge as we remove the
log from our own eyes.
May
each of us be concerned with seeing more clearly our own sins &
shortcomings rather than pointing out those in others. If we’ll do this, we’ll be drinking in much
more JOY in the Lord.
