Have you had your Joy Juice today? Use the eyes of your heart to see why you
need to faithfully drink in the JOY of the Lord.
“Eyes and sight are frequently used in
figures of speech throughout the Bible… and in our everyday lives. When our
attention is attracted to something remarkable, we call it “eye-catching”. When
we watch something carefully, we are said to “keep our eye on the ball.” Certain people “have an eye” for particular
skills. In the Bible the eye is the
organ of perception, and perception involves a lot more than just physical
sight.”

Many
times the eye is used figuratively to indicate understanding. For example, when
we understand a point that a teacher makes, we say, “Oh, I see now.” When we
don’t plan ahead, we are said to be “short-sighted.” There are times when we “turn a blind eye” to
something and ignore what’s happening.
Ever disapproved of an action and said that you “take a dim view of” it?
In Isaiah 9:2, the prophet Isaiah
wrote of the coming Messiah:
“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light” Knowledge and wisdom are associated with
sight, ignorance and sin with darkness.
Have you seen the light? When we allow Jesus Christ into our heart, He
will light our path and shine joy into our heart like never before. We will experience peace and will be able to
“see” with the eyes of our heart that He loves us and cares for us.
Don’t be short-sighted! Look toward spending a JOYful eternity with
Jesus!
