Have you had your Joy Juice
today? Jesus is our model….let’s strive
to become more like Him every day.
In
Matthew 6:9-13, we find His model for prayer.
Often we refer to it as “The Lord’s Prayer” because Jesus used this as a
teaching tool to share the importance of prayer with his disciples…and as a
model for us. Listen to these familiar words:
Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.
How
many of you memorized this as a child? I remember reciting this together with
my fellow students in public school when I was growing up! How sad that our students these days are not
allowed this same privilege! But we can
teach them the importance of prayer by modeling it in our homes and daily lives.
As Jesus tells us in the Word of God, we should:
- Pray with persistence (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
- Watch and pray regarding temptation (Matthew 26:41).
- Go secretly into a private place to pray (Matthew 6:6).
- Pray believing that God hears us (Mark 11:24).
The Lord’s Prayer is a beautiful model of
joy in the Lord. Pray without ceasing!
