Have you had your Joy Juice
today? It’s a daily gift that the Lord
desires to give us.
Most
of us would say we enjoy getting gifts. There are birthday gifts, Christmas
gifts, wedding gifts, graduation gifts, anniversary gifts. Sometimes I give my
grandjoys a “searcy” gift. That’s a
“just because I love you!” gift. God blesses us with spiritual gifts and many
joy-gifts that we often take for granted.
Have you ever considered that “PAIN” may be a gift?
Quoted
from The Bible for HOPE:
Years ago Philip Yancey and Paul
Brand wrote a book entitled “Pain: The Gift Nobody Wants.” In the book, the
authors talk about the tragedy of living life without pain, as did the lepers
Dr. Brand worked with in India.
Inability to feel pain usually leads to an early death or disability
because the body has no mechanism to warn or fight against that which is
dangerous to it.
This physical paradox is a metaphor
for our spiritual and emotional life.
The pain of a tweaked conscience can warn us about evil dangers and
moral trouble. Fear can sensitize us to
risky people and situations, preparing us to flee or to fight. Pain is a
necessary part of healthy human existence.
Next time you experience a
painful time in your life, whether it’s physical, emotional or spiritual…thank
God for the pain and ask Him to teach you through it and give you wisdom.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above.”
(James 1:17) That includes joy-gifts, as well as the gift of pain.
