Have you had
your JOY JUICE today? You don’t ever
have to worry about getting a bitter batch.
When your
heart of full of love for the Lord and others, there truly is no room for
bitterness or resentment. But I will
have to admit, when my thoughts turn away from God and I focus on how I’ve been
mistreated by someone, that old sin of bitterness easily begins to take
root. When that happens, we need to
douse it with “weed killer” by reading scripture and asking for forgiveness.
Hebrews
12:15 instructs us on this subject: “See
to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness
springing up causes trouble, and by it may be defiled;”
When
we allow that “root of bitterness” to grow in our hearts because of a grudge, anger
or unforgiveness, we will soon find that the enemy has stolen our joy. He
delights in causing trouble; and he gloats over broken relationships. Satan is busy seeking to “devour” us…that’s
straight from the Bible! Be warned! And be ready!
How
do we combat the enemy? By using the weapon found in Proverbs 4:23… “Above
all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”
We guard our hearts by guarding our thoughts and making sure
we are focusing on the right things…NOT things that will make us bitter! Make sure your thoughts are filled with JOY
in the Lord!
