Have you had your Joy Juice today? Just a few more days ‘til Christmas…so let’s
savor the moments of JOY!
Soon after
baby Jesus was born, the scriptures tell us that the shepherds came to see
him. They were thrilled over what the
Lord had revealed to them. Luke 2:18
tells us that “all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and
pondered them in her heart.”
As we focus on
those words describing Mary’s reaction to this miracle of God, we will find
another serving of JOY! Mary “treasured
up all these things”…..that means that she savored every moment of what had
happened and went over it in her heart and mind, time and time again. She didn’t understand every detail of God’s
plan, but she knew she was His instrument and was willing to do whatever she
was called to do. The fact that she was
chosen by God was certainly something for her to “treasure” and to “ponder”.
Do you ever
ponder? That means to “reflect deeply on
a subject”. We ponder things that are
important to us and close to our heart, don’t we?
Imagine Mary gazing with love at
the baby, Jesus, reflecting on what His life would bring…pondering how she
could nurture and care for this Christ-child the way God would desire. Her thoughts must have been overflowing with
thanksgiving and love…and JOY.
As we prepare our hearts for
the upcoming Christmas day, let’s ponder the awesome love of God! JESUS is the
reason for Christmas JOY!
