Have
you had your Joy Juice today? I wish you
much joy! I desire that we all have joy in the Lord! If I wish it, and since
it’s my heart’s desire, it’s automatic…..or is it?
May
times we read the passage in Psalm 37:1-5 that talks about God granting our
hearts desires and we focus only on the 4th verse. It says:
“Take delight
in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your
heart.”
We get
excited when we read that verse…..because we ALL have desires.
The scripture promises that the Father will give us those
desires. However, our focus is often on
“receiving” and we miss the context of this passage. This
promise comes with an obligation
of action on our part.
Charles Stanley explains: “God’s greatest interest is not to indulge us, but rather to give us
more of Himself. Self-indulgent prayers overlook the first requirement for the
promise’s fulfillment: delighting in the Lord. We are to take pleasure in time
spent communing with Him and serving Him.
Over time, our growing trust in God
means that we begin to appropriate His ways of thinking. Then committing to His
plan remolds our heart’s desires until they look like His own preferences for
our life. God derives enjoyment from granting our requests, but His greatest
joy is hearing us express an earnest desire to know Him better.” Delight in the Lord….and see what happens!
