Have you
had your Joy Juice today? Even aliens
need to drink it! Do you believe that?
When the
word “alien” is used, visions of UFO’s and creatures from another world often
come to our thoughts. Television and the
movie industry have certainly added creative images to our memory bank. But did you know that the Bible talks about
aliens? The Biblical term means something quite different than an extraterrestrial!
In 1 Peter 2:11, we are admonished:
“Beloved,
I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war
against the soul.”
As committed Christians, we should
be “aliens”! Let’s dig into that concept a little. Instead of blending in with
the crowd and conforming to the ways of the world, we are supposed to be “set
apart” by being different. In Scripture,
to be “set apart” is to be sanctified and holy. Our lifestyle should change when
we accept the gift of God’s salvation and understand that Jesus died for our
sins. We become like “strangers” in that our actions and words make us
different than the norm. We think differently, talk differently and react
differently because we are sold out to becoming more like Christ every day.
Take a long hard look in the
mirror. Do you see just another pretty
face that blends in with the rest of the world?
Or do you see an “alien” who is joyfully taking a stand for Christ?
Calling all “aliens” to stand up for Jesus and experience an “out
of this world” kind of joy!
