Have you had your Joy Juice today? It has a delightful taste and a special
flavor just for you!
I have
found myself focused on the word “delight” recently. It’s a beautiful word and not only do I like
to read the written word, I like to hear it spoken.
However, I have found it most “delightful” when I discover it in God’s Word!
The idea of “delight” occurs
approximately 110 times in Scripture…in both the Old and New Testaments. The
basic definition in the Merriam-Webster dictionary explains why I love this
word: "A high degree of gratification of mind; a high-wrought state of pleasurable feeling; extreme
satisfaction; joy" You heard it, didn’t
you? JOY! Now, keep that in mind as we look at some
delightful scriptures.
Let’s
begin with a favorite: Psalm 37:4
"Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
Taking delight in the Lord means that our hearts are filled with joy in Him. Our satisfaction and value in Christ brings us the longings of our hearts. Now, that does not mean the we can making our long “shopping list” of things we’d like to have and God will fill it! But we can depend on Him to “fill our hearts” with joy in Him and make us content. When we truly rejoice (or delight) in the eternal things of God, our desires will begin to parallel His and we will never go unfulfilled.
Delight in the Lord and get ready for
blessings of joy!
