Have you had your Joy Juice today? If not, step out of your comfort zone and try
a different flavor of God’s joy.
As I was
reading a great devotional by Ann Voskamp, these words jumped off the page and
into my heart. She writes: “When God moves us out of our comfort
zone—into places that are way bigger than us, places that are difficult, hard,
painful places that even hurt—this is a gift!
These hard places give us the gift of intimately knowing God in ways that
would never be possible in our comfort zones.” One Thousand Gifts Devotional
What a
different perspective! Do we typically
see the difficulties of life as “gifts”?
We usually like the comfort of the familiar; the security of knowing
where we are headed and how to get there.
But when the unexpected comes, often we are thrown off course. We become
anxious about how to handle the uninvited challenges.
Let’s make
an effort to “see” each difficulty as a “joy gift” which can draw us closer to
God! Can we thank Him for the hard times
that lead to a deeper relationship with Him?
Do we understand that He is our strength when we are weak? May we
graciously accept each gift of joy, regardless of how it is wrapped! When we
invite God to go with us, we will discover unexpected, indescribable gifts of
joy all along our journey.
Step out of your comfort zone and accept
your new “joy gifts.”
