Have you
had your JOY JUICE today? It never gets
old or loses its flavor! The joy of the Lord is always fresh and new.
We’ve been
in a renovation project around my house for the last few weeks and though it
will be worth it in the long run, it has surely been a challenging time! Decisions to be made, dust everywhere, insects
both crawling and flying have taken advantage of open doors and windows. One tiny project has morphed into a much
larger episode of nail-biting excitement
As I began
to ponder the chaos of the past few weeks, it occurred to me that our lives are
often a picture of a never-ending renovation project. Without the head carpenter, Jesus, we can
truly make a mess of things! Do we allow
Him to create the floor plan using all the right measurements? Or do we try to jump in and rush the job,
cutting corners and ending up with less than the masterpiece He has planned?
Any “out of
control” area in our lives can be an open door to the enemy. He targets our weak areas and is always on
the lookout for that crumbling section of the foundation. When he finds the place that is most
vulnerable to attack, he will enter and play havoc in our lives. He especially likes to point out the places
which are chipped away by guilt, shame, frustrations and failure.
Instead of
allowing our heart to be damaged and our “house” demolished, let’s recall the
scripture in Matthew 7:24: “Therefore
everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a
wise man who built his house on the rock.”
Join me in thanking God that we have a Builder who will
"remodel" our lives, if we will joyfully allow our house to build upon the Rock!
