Have you had your JOY JUICE today? Keep your eye on Jesus and you’ll be able to see JOY more clearly!
It’s amazing how many times we use the word “eye” to describe things unrelated to our physical sight. When tracking a hurricane, meteorologists are sent into the “eye of the storm.” When we thread a needle, where do we put the thread? Through the “eye of the needle.” Potatoes have “eyes” which can be planted, and some of the finer cuts of beef are known as the “ribeye”. We even have a pair of teeth called our “eyeteeth.” And when we speak to someone face-to-face, we say we’re “eyeball-to-eyeball.” In a sense, we “see” eyes everywhere, don’t we?
It’s interesting the many ways the word is used in the Bible, too. In Matthew 6:22-23 we read:
"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness."
This passage is referring to spiritual vision…our capacity to see (understand) clearly what God wants us to do. Sadly, our spiritual vision can often become foggy, cloudy or out of focus. We don’t have on our “Jesus-glasses”, so we can’t see clearly. When that happens, it’s time to go to the eye Doctor! The best prescription for correcting bad spiritual vision is to allow God to be our guide. A “good eye” is one that is fixed on God.
See more clearly every day by depending on God to be your seeing-eye guide! He’ll lead you down the path of JOY!
